Jennifer Lee, Ed.M
CEO, Founder, Education Counselor
Jennifer Lee received her Masters in Education (Ed.M) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After completing her BA in Psychology at UC Davis in 2008, she taught English to students from Kindergarten through 8th grade while helping run Genius Academy. During her time at Genius Academy, Jennifer has promoted the development of well-rounded children who love learning, emphasizing high academic expectations while cultivating usable life skills through fun programs that apply the knowledge students have learned.

Jennifer’s mission in education is to help children reach high standards in academic achievement, but also to promote the importance of leadership, public speaking, critical thinking, and other 21st century skills, preparing students for college and beyond. Her educational philosophy has shaped Elevate’s mission of fostering well-rounded students with genuine passions and interests rather than perfectly performing robots. Through Elevate, Jennifer hopes to help students discover and pursue their interests in a way that is beneficial for their college profiles, shifting the public view of a “good student” away from purely grades and test scores in favor of cultivating unique and passionate individuals who possess the soft skills that are critical for success in school and in life.

Sunny Wu
Writing Coach, English Tutor
Sunny Wu received her B.A. in English with a Creative Writing Emphasis from Stanford University in 2019. After being in recruiting and HR in the tech industry for a few years, she began working as a writing coach and tutor at Elevate. Teaching and writing are two of her greatest passions and strengths, and Sunny considers it a privilege to have the opportunity to guide students through the most important developmental years of their lives. Her personal mission is to mentor students, teach them resilience, and inspire them to grow into better versions of themselves every day.
A Bay Area native and alumna of Lynbrook High School in San Jose, Sunny is currently writing her first book and applying to M.F.A. programs in Creative Writing for Fall 2024. Looking toward her future career goals, she believes she belongs at the intersection of the literary arts, the promotion of Asian American voices and perspectives, and the education and empowerment of young people. In her free time, Sunny loves yoga and bouldering and hiking, reading and journaling, spending time with friends, and listening to Taylor Swift on repeat.
